On Tuesday Lola will be 17 but her birthday celebrations have already begun.

On Saturday we drove over to Cambridge to meet up with Lola's godmother, Nic, her daughter Phoebe and her boyfriend Sam.

Before we had lunch we went shopping and bought Lola a fabulous guitar from a wonderful shop called Millers, one of the oldest music shops in the UK.

It was music heaven and the range of guitars was amazing. Some looked too beautiful to play.

We went to Lola's favourite place, Wagamamas, for lunch, where we were served by a very nice waiter called Adam.
We had a lovely time, eating noodles, drinking Tiger beer and catching up on each other's news - Sam's trip to Paris, Phoebe's trip to Sydney and Nic's new house.

After lunch we went shopping and carried on chatting until it was time to say goodbye.

We were lucky with the weather, too. The sun shone all day and it was glorious.

In fact the whole day was perfect from beginning to end.

Lola loved it. And that's the most important thing.
