New York, New York - Part 1

The view from the Empire State Building at Night
Well, we've finally done it.

We've been to New York.

It didn't disappoint.

Everything we'd heard about it was true - only better.

We crammed two weeks' sightseeing into one.

We wore out our shoes with walking.

But it was so worth it.

It's hard to say what the highlights were as it was all good.

Here are some of the best bits:

The Brooklyn Bridge
  • The scale of the Brooklyn Bridge is hard to imagine as it's VERY big!
  • The architecture is hugely impressive and the views amazing.
  • We especially loved watching the traffic whizzing by below.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)
  • Of all the museums we visited in New York (and we visited a lot), this was our favourite.
  • The art is mind-blowing and the setting breathtaking.
  • Our favourite part was the delightful sculpture garden where we sat in the cafe, basking in the sunshine and admiring the art.
  • We could happily have stayed there all day.
  • We liked MoMA so much, we went twice.

The Chrysler Building
  • This is art deco at its most opulent
  • It's hard to believe it houses real offices with real people
  • You feel as if you've gone back in time to a more glamorous and gentile era
  • Looking up and seeing the Chrysler building among the modern skyscrapers was both comforting and beautiful
  • Standing in the foyer was the realisation of a lifelong dream - just like the trip to New York ...
